It is worth noting that various chemical bonded sands are booming, and clay green sand is still a more important molding material. Its wide scope of application and large consumption are incomparable with any other molding material. It is reported that more than 80% of American steel castings are made with clay green sand; In Japan, more than 73% of steel castings are made with clay green sand. The ability to adapt to molding conditions is also a major feature of clay green sand. In 1890, the vibrating molding machine was introduced. The clay green molding sand, which has been used for manual molding for a long time, was very successful in machine molding, and laid the foundation for the mechanization and automation of molding operations thereafter. Modern high pressure molding, jet molding, air impact molding, static pressure molding and shock free vacuum pressure molding and other new processes are also based on the use of clay green sand. The implementation of various new processes has made clay green sand more important in foundry production, and has also made clay green sand face many new problems, which has prompted us to strengthen our research and deepen our understanding of clay green sand. Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, the demand for castings from various industrial departments is growing, and the requirements for casting quality are also getting higher and higher. In modern foundries, the productivity of molding equipment has increased to an unprecedented level. If the properties of molding sand cannot be fully adapted to specific production conditions, or can not be effectively controlled to be stable and consistent, the foundry may soon be buried in waste products. With the development of science and technology, foundries that use clay green molding sand generally have sand treatment systems suitable for their specific conditions, including the treatment of old sand, the addition of new sand and auxiliary materials, the mixing of molding sand and the monitoring of molding sand performance. There are many changing factors in the clay wet sand system. If one or more key performances cannot be kept within the control range, problems may occur in production. An effective sand treatment system should be able to monitor the performance of molding sand, and if there is any problem, it should be able to correct it in time. Due to the different arrangement of sand treatment system in each foundry and the different equipment selected, it is impossible to draw up a general control method. Here, I intend to propose some control points that have been widely recognized. After carefully understanding these key points, each foundry can determine feasible control methods according to its own specific conditions. In addition, the control of the molding sand system should be continuously improved with the progress of technology and the actual capacity of the factory (including personnel and funds)
